Scarecrow

Another self promotion piece, part children's book, part visual development. It's all cut paper, except for the sky, which I painted first. I was looking at a lot of Mary Blaire for inspiration, but wanted to make sure it still had some Matt Swartz in it. What do you think?

Hey Matt. I really like this piece. The textures in the hills are nice. I'm wondering if maybe the color of his head could be a different value/saturation to pop him out a bit more from the hills behind him? I don't think it's necessary because it reads fine as it is, but it just crossed my mind.

I agree, I love the cut paper style, but it could be fun to play with the contrast in photo shop.

I love this Matt! You should check out Megan Brain's blog. She does a bunch of stuff with cut paper that is amazing.
